A selection of Liverpool history questions submitted to the Liverpool History Society

Oxford St Maternity Hospital

Hi,

Would anyone know how I would go about finding records of a still birth at Oxford St maternity hospital 1950-1952?
I have parents names but not a name for the child, only know that she was a girl. Would there only be a registration of a death?
Many thanks in anticipation
Angela.

  1. Hi Angela,

You might be able to get a ‘still birth certificate’, telephone them and they can do it over the phone: –

    General Registrar Office
    Postal Application Section
    Smedley Hydro
    Trafalger Hydro
    SOUTHPORT
    PR8 2HH.
    Tel. 01704 563563

A few years ago I got one for a still birth that happened in 1970. They keep records for the whole country.

    Good Luck
    Angie
